Sterling silver is an alloy of 92.5% silver and 7.5% other metals, we use copper for this. The silver content is therefore 925 out of 1000.
With galvanic gold plating, we immerse the piece of jewelry in a bath of gold electrolyte. By applying electrical DC voltages, a gold coating is deposited on the piece of jewelry.
